Events in May 2011 to celebrate Family History Month

Thursday 12th May 2011, 7.30pm - History of the Yorkshire Pub
Paul Jennings, author of "The Local", wil be talking about the history of pubs and inns with particular reference to Harrogate and Knaresborough.
Tickets: £3.50

Saturday 14th May 2011, 10am-2pm - Local and Family History Fair
This drop-in event will offer the opportunity to learn and explore your family history in and around the Harrogate area. There will be displays and exhibits, and family and local history groups will be on hand to give advice.

Monday 16th May, Ancestry.com IT session, 2pm - 4pm
Tickets are £10 and include a two hour computer session on Ancestry.com with trained staff, a 3-month subscription to the library's public computers, an electronic booklet on family history websites and refreshments.
Please note: tickets for this session are not released until Monday 9th May 2011, 9am.

Wednesday 18th May 2011, 2.15pm - Harrogate Cenotaph
Have you ever wondered about the stories behind the names on the Harrogate cenotaph? Margaret Power, local historian and member of Harrogate library staff, will be giving a talk about the personal histories of the soldiers who dies in the First World War.
